REDDING, Calif. - A man was arrested after police responded to a call about trespassers in a Redding mobile home park.

Redding Police Department Sgt. Shawn McGinnis told KRCR at the scene that a caller around 9:30 p.m. reported trespassers in his backyard who he considered a threat. The caller told police he had armed himself with a gun.

Officers arrived at the home in the Starlite Mobile Estates on E. Cypress Ave. in Redding and found no suspect in the yard. According to police, they were originally unable to convince the homeowner to leave his home. Several officers surrounded the home until the man exited his home safely.

Police completed a sweep of the property. No intruders were found during a sweep of the property, but officers did locate a weapon inside the home. Officials also found the man's girlfriend inside, unharmed.

Sheldon Lee Scott, 59, was arrested for false imprisonment and obstructing or delaying peace officers in performance of their duties. Police said their investigation showed that Scott was using meth, which can cause paranoid thoughts and actions.
