RPD arrests two on weapons, drugs charges during hotel patrol
REDDING, Calif. —
A traffic stop for expired registration led to the arrest of a man and woman on a variety of charges, including weapon and drug related offenses.
Redding Police arrested Eric Hancock, 32, of Redding, and Haley Tyrrell, 22, of Shasta Lake, after a traffic stop in the area of the Vagabond Inn on Bechelli Lane Thursday morning.
According to RPD, Hancock was driving the vehicle when pulled over by police. They found a backpack in his vehicle containing two loaded handguns, methamphetamine and heroin. They also found drug packaging materials, brass knuckles, prescription medication and cash.
During the investigation, police were led to a room at the hotel associated with Hancock, where they contacted Tyrrell. After serving a search warrant on the room and another associated vehicle, police found two more handguns, ammunition, drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Hancock was arrested and booked into Shasta County Jail for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, possessing a concealed firearm, being a convicted felon in possession of ammunition, possession of methamphetamine for sale, possession of heroin for sale, possession of stolen property, possession of brass knuckles, and driving on a suspended license.
Tyrrell was arrested and booked into Shasta County Jail on charges of being a drug addict in possession of a firearm and for possession of morphine.
