Shasta Co. District Attorney files charges against Palo Cedro Chiropractor
PALO CEDRO, Calif. —
The Shasta County District Attorney's Office filed criminal charges against a Palo Cedro Chiropractor Thursday after he allegedly was practicing medicine without a license.
Officials said Steven C. Davis is being charged with a felony charge of practicing medicine without a license and was arrested Thursday.
According to the DA's Office, the charge stems from an investigation conducted by the California Department of Consumer Affairs, Division of Investigation.
The investigation began after a complaint was received about Davis's practices.
An undercover operation was conducted by investigators in which officials say Davis said he could treat the undercover investigator's symptoms that she believed to be cancer.
Officials said Davis also advised the undercover investigator against a biopsy and treatment for cancer related symptoms even though she told him the treatment and biopsy were advised by a medical doctor.
The Shasta County District Attorney's Office is asking individuals who believe they may be a victim of Davis's unlawful practices to call the District Attorney's Office Consumer Protection Hotline at 530-225-5391.
