Shasta County man arrested for having sex with several minors
SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. - A Shasta County man was arrested on November 30 following an investigation into a tip the Shasta County Sheriff's Office received on February 6, 2017, about him having sex with minors.
The information stated Daniel James Francioni, 32, from Shasta County, was having unlawful sex with a 14-year-old girl. The Shasta County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation and discovered three additional girls, who were 15 and 16-years-old when the sexual acts happened, had previous encounters with Francioni. The acts with the three additional victims took place from 2007-2016.
On November 29, a Shasta County judge issued an arrest warrant for Francioni. The charges included five counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor under 16 years of age and two counts of penetration with a foreign object. The judge set bail at $1 million.
On November 30, detectives arrested Francioni near his home, at the intersection of Olinda Road and Happy Valley Road in Anderson. Francioni was taken to the Shasta County Jail where he was booked and where he remains in custody.
Officials said based on the circumstances and length of time that Francioni has been reportedly committing these crimes, detectives believe there are other possible sexual assault victims of Francioni that have not yet been identified.
