Simpson University hoping to start Bass Fishing Team in the fall
REDDING, Calif. —
Simpson University is hoping come fall, they will have a Bass Fishing Team to add to their line-up of sports offered at the university.
Shasta Lake is well-known for bringing professional bass fishing tours to the area and Simpson University President Norman Hall thinks adding a Bass Fishing Team will bring great opportunities for their young students.
"It's a rage across the country and people are just waking up to it. And in the Northstate where we have beautiful, beautiful resources for bass fishing, I think we're going to see some great opportunities for young students that both want to study hard in the classroom, and have meaningful co-curriculum," said Hall.
Hall said there may even be scholarships available from the school and the state but right now they're working to find a coach.
They hope to have the team ready to start in the fall.
