ANDERSON, Calif. — Two Shasta County felons were arrested Wednesday after officials with the Anderson Police Department and the Shasta Interagency Narcotics Task Force allegedly found the two in possession of methamphetamine during their probation checks.
According to the Anderson Police Department, officers were on their way to a home in the 1700 block of Brigman Street to conduct a probation compliance check on Christopher Peets, 36, from Anderson, when they spotted Jon Ard, 33, from Cottonwood.
Police say Ard was standing in an apartment complex parking lot in the area of the 3200 block of W. Center Street so officers diverted from the original task and went to contact Ard.
Officials say they're familiar with Ard from previous arrests when he lived in Anderson for methamphetamine sales.
Officers spoke with Ard and conducted a probation search. They say they found methamphetamine and evidence of methamphetamine sales. Ard was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance for sales and a violation of his felony probation.
Officers then went to Peets home to complete their probation search of him and his home.
Police say when they arrived at Peets home he attempted to run towards the rear of the home but officers were able to force open the front door and detain him.
A search of his home revealed over two ounces of methamphetamine and evidence of methamphetamine sales. He was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for sales and a violation of his felony probation.
