Redding firefighters quickly extinguish two house fires despite windy conditions

Redding firefighters quickly extinguished two house fires despite windy conditions Thursday.

According to Mike Ham, a Fire Investigator with the Redding Fire Department, two houses in the 2700 block of Blue View Street in Redding caught fire in the mid-morning hours Thursday.

The fire caused significant damage to both homes and firefighters will be on scene for several hours mopping up.

According to Ham, the wind hampered fire suppression efforts for quite some time. The fire started between the two structures, so the north winds caused the fire to spread to the northern structure, but the majority of the damage was caused to the southern structure.

There are no reported injuries at this time. One house had people home at the time the fire started, the occupants of the other house left shortly before the fire started.

The cause of these fires is still under investigation.
