REDDING, Calif. - The man killed in a trailer fire in early December has been identified by the Shasta County Coroner's Office as Christopher Carl Crossman, 35, from Redding.

Officials said at about 2:11 a.m. on December 12 the Redding Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 11989 Alee Lane in Redding. When firefighters arrived, they found a travel trailer fully engulfed with flames and flames were spreading to nearby structures.

Fire officials said due to the location of the fire, within the Buckeye Fire Protection District north of Oasis Road down a narrow dirt road, water supply was limited with the closest fire hydrant being almost 1,500 feet away.

Fire officials said once water supply was established, firefighters quickly knocked down the fire and prevented further spread and damage. Once the fire was extinguished, firefighters found Crossman inside.

Total damages is estimated at about $45,000 to $50,000 between the structures and contents. The cause of the fire remains under investigation but fire officials said the fire did start in the trailer.
