REDDING, Calif. — Redding police have arrested Billie Jo Patterson, 28, the second suspect wanted for allegedly stealing a van full of show dogs on June 6 from the In-N-Out restaurant.
On June 29, police arrested Benjamen Larson. Larson was booked into the Shasta County Jail on 14 counts of animal cruelty, vehicle theft, and possession of stolen property. Larson has an extensive criminal history and is currently on California Department of Corrections Parole.
Investigators were able to obtain surveillance from the restaurant and learned two suspects were involved in the theft.
According to police, they responded to the Redding In-N-Out around 1:22 p.m. on June 6 for a report of a stolen vehicle with 14 show dogs of various breeds inside.
The trainers were driving from Washington to Vallejo for Woofstock and had gone into In-N-Out to order food, leaving the vehicle parked, unlocked, and running to keep the air-conditioning on for the dogs.
The dogs were found safe on June 7 in a remote wooded area off Canyon Road in south Redding.
