Officer-involved shooting suspect had a history of domestic violence charges
RED BLUFF, Calif. —
According to the legal court documents from the Tehama County Courthouse, this is not the first time Carl Thayer, 45, was charged with acts of domestic violence.
Thayer was charged for domestic violence causing injury to a spouse back in 2016, was found guilty and placed on probation for 5 years and served 120 days in Tehama County Jail.
According to court documents filed, Thayer's ex-wife accused him of choking her until she passed out in June of last year. She said this was the reason why she decided to file for divorce in July of 2018.
In December, there was a request for a domestic violence restraining order placed against him. In addition, a temporary restraining order was also placed on Thayer after he violated a Criminal Protective Order in November of last year.
Thayer also had previous criminal charges from the 1990's with charges of battery and assault in 1994, fighting in public and a misdemeanor assault and battery in 1998.
