Los Molinos man arrested after fatal hit-and-run, victim remains unidentified
LOS MOLINOS, Calif. —
A Los Molinos man was arrested Monday night after CHP says he hit and killed a man while driving intoxicated and then left the scene.
According to the Red Bluff CHP, at approximately 9:49 p.m., a man who remains unidentified was walking his bicycle northbound from the Fast Track gas station parking lot, across Tehama and Vina Road.
Jacob Cady, 25, from Los Molinos, was driving his 2003 Ford Excursion SUV northbound on Highway 99 approaching Tehama and Vina Road at an unknown speed.
Officials said Cady turned left in an unsafe manner onto Tehama and Vina Road, colliding with the unidentified man and his bicycle.
Cady then left the scene in his Ford Excursion.
Despite first responders quickly responding to the area, the unidentified man died at the scene.
Tehama County Sheriff's deputies and CHP officers were able to find Cady's Ford Excursion parked at the River Inn trailer park.
Cady was arrested at his home and booked into the Tehama County Jail for hit-and-run causing death or injury, DUI alcohol/drugs causing bodily injury, and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
He is being held on a $325,000 bail.
