Man arrested with illegal firearms in Rancho Tehama Reserve

A Sacramento man was arrested for a slew of firearm-related charges in Rancho Tehama, early Sunday morning.

According to the Tehama County Sheriff's Office, deputies conducted a traffic stop on Rancho Tehama Road at Boggs and Champlin Road around 12:15 a.m.

During the stop, deputies said they found two people in the car. The driver was identified as Rickey Howard and the passenger was Jerray Brown, 37, from Sacramento. Deputies say that Brown was on searchable probation out of Sacramento for a gun charge.

Deputies conducted a probation search of Brown and his belongings and located a loaded .45 caliber Smith and Wesson semi-automatic pistol in a duffel bag. The serial number on the firearm had been obliterated and was unreadable.

Brown was arrested for felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammo, having a loaded firearm in a vehicle, and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

Brown is being held in the Tehama County Jail on a $75,000 bail.
