Matthew Rogers announces run for Tehama County DA
RED BLUFF, Calif. —
The Tehama County Assistant District Attorney, Matthew Rogers, announced he's running for the DA's position during the June election Monday.
He made the official statement during the afternoon on the steps of the old Tehama County court house.
Rogers started working at the District Attorney's office in 2005 as a clerk and worked his way to assistant.
He said running for DA is the next logical step in his career. His goal is to continue making public safety the number one priority but he did have a few new ideas of his own.
"I would like to look for some other sources of funding that would not impact our county budget. I would like to pursue some opportunities if possible to divert cases around our court system, while still achieving the goal of eliminating or reducing repeat offences," said Rogers.
Rogers will run against attorney Carolyn Walker. The current DA, Greg Cohen filed preliminary paperwork but has yet to official announce whether he will run for re-election. That deadline is March 9.
