Rare Sierra Nevada red fox tracking through Tehama

The elusive Sierra Nevada red fox is making some tracks in the Northstate.

The California Departmenmt of Fish and Wildlife shared the story of a 10 lb. male they captured and have been tracking through GPS.

The once prevalent animal is protected in California and the elusive subspecies of red fox is difficult to capture and track. According to Jennifer Carlson of CDFW, this male has been traveling seven straight-line miles a day through rough terrain since being released with a tracking device.
