CHP searching for early morning hit-and-run suspect
GERBER, Calif. —
The California Highway Patrol is searching for a suspect who they say ran from the scene of a collision early Wednesday morning.
According to officers, at approximately 4:30 a.m., a maroon 2001 Ford Mustang, registered out of Red Bluff, was driving north on San Benito Avenue approaching Vestal Avenue at a high rate of speed.
Officials said for unknown reasons, the driver of the mustang drifted to the right and collided with a parked 2006 Honda Ridgeline, which was unoccupied, causing the Honda to collide with a building.
The Mustang then continued north and collided with a parked 2000 Ford F-150, which was also unoccupied.
After the collision, the Mustang came to rest on San Benito Avenue, blocking both the northbound and southbound lanes.
Officials said the driver then ran from the scene and a search of the area was conducted but no suspects were found.
Red Bluff CHP is investigating the collision and is asking anyone who has any information regarding this incident to please call them at 530-527-2034.
