Tehama Co. Sheriff's Office investigating suspicious cow death

The Tehama County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in finding any suspects responsible for killing a cow in Vina.

According to investigators, a 5-year-old bred Charolais cow, valued at $1,500, was grazing in a pasture in the area of Acorn Hollow Road when it was shot and killed by a high-velocity rifle round.

The cow's owner, Brooke Gale Hencratt, said the cow was shot between Jan. 14 and Jan. 16.

Officials said that the suspect(s) are not known and the investigation is continuing.
