Tractor trailer driver jumps ravine, crashes into trees
According to California Highway Patrol officers in Red Bluff, a tractor trailer driver lost control of his vehicle Tuesday morning, blew through a stop sign, jumped a ravine and crashed into a series of trees before coming to a stop.
Red Bluff CHP reported that the driver, Amarjit Uppal, 51 of Keyes, CA was traveling south on I-5 in the Corning area when he lost control of his vehicle around 9:25 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Uppal exited the freeway at Liberal Avenue, and proceeded to blow through a stop sign around 40 miles per hour, according to witnesses at the scene.
Uppal's vehicle then went onto an elevated roadway before leaving the road and essentially jumping a roadside ravine. The vehicle then crashed into several trees before coming to rest in the middle of a large field.
CHP reported that the driver was not under the influence at the time, and was not injured. The driver complained of pain at the scene but declined any medical treatment.
