Woman killed in overnight single-vehicle crash on I-5
RED BLUFF, Calif. - The CHP said a woman was killed after she drove off an embankment near Interstate 5 Friday night.
According to officials, the incident took place just before midnight. The driver was allegedly traveling north on I-5, north of Sunset Hills Drive at an unknown speed.
The CHP said for an unknown reason, the driver drifted to the left into the dirt center divider and overturned approximately 30 feet below the roadway in the ditch.
The CHP said the victim was not wearing a seatbelt. She succumbed to her injuries on the scene and died around midnight.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the collision.
