Humboldt State University said Wednesday two students have been suspended following the circulation of social media posts of them making racial slurs and taunts toward the black community.

The video began circulating on social media earlier in the day Wednesday of what appears to be two or three students using a racial slur and insults.

Around 8 p.m., the university said it suspended two students from their respective athletic and fraternal campus organizations pending a student-conduct investigation. However, the university said it would not be able to report on the final outcome of the investigation or the names of the students due to FERPA student-privacy laws.

"It is important that our campus community is aware we will hold our students accountable pending results of the investigation and within the scope of the code of student conduct," HSU said in a statement.
