Alderpoint shooting suspect faces first-degree murder charges, bail set at $2 million
EUREKA, Calif. —
Murder suspect Zachary Harrison appeared at the Humboldt County Superior Court Friday, June 8 where he was faced with his charges. The 28-year-old is charged with first-degree murder with a special allegation of using a firearm. He did not enter a plea in court Friday.
Harrison is the prime suspect in the shooting death of 58-year-old Robert James Holtsclaw in September of last year. He dodged law enforcement for over 8 months, even jumping naked into the Eel River to escape capture at one point. During the search for the fugitive, several of his "associates" were arrested.
Last week, Harrison was recognized by a citizen at the Bayshore mall where he was ultimately taken into custody. Harrison's bail has been set at $2 million and he remains in custody.
