A man was stabbed early Friday morning in Arcata after meeting a group of strangers while skateboarding through town, according to the Arcata Police Dept. (APD).

Officers say the 22-year-old victim was stabbed during an altercation. The victim was skateboarding with his friend and three other men they had just met, when a physical fight broke out among them for reasons still yet to be determined, police say. One man was stabbed as a result of the altercation.

The victim was transported to Mad River Community Hospital where he received treatment for a non-life-threatening stab wound, the APD says.
