Firefighters are battling a blaze in Redway that crews are calling the "Red Fire." As of Thursday just after noon, the fire was burning about a quarter-acre of vegetation and spreading slowly.

CAL FIRE says crews are having a difficult time getting ground access due to the terrain in the area of the fire. Multiple agencies are responding and the cause is under investigation. Officials said it started at around 10 a.m. Thursday.

Paul Savona, public information officer for CAL FIRE, said the agency is stretched a bit thin after sending crews to help with the Camp Fire burning in Butte County.

Savona wants to remind the public that Thursday and Friday are official "no-burn" days and to be careful with anything outdoors that could ignite a vegetation fire.
