    Highway 299 is closed in both directions in Trinity County due to a rock and mud slide, according to Caltrans. The closure is between Helena and Big Bar. The agency announced the closure just before 8 a.m. Wednesday.

    "We will also post updates as we get them since SR 299 closures have such a huge effect on Humboldt County residents and businesses, but right now there is no estimated time to reopen the highway," Caltrans said via Facebook.
