The California Highway Patrol is asking for the public's help in identifying a woman that hit a bicyclist with her car in McKinleyville and fled the scene on Monday.

Around 4:15 Monday night, the CHP said a bicyclist was traveling northbound on McKinleyville Avenue approaching Hiller Road. The CHP said the 59-year-old bicyclist stopped at the intersection as a car approached from westbound Hiller Road. Upon seeing the car slow down, the bicyclist entered the intersection but was hit by the car after it failed to stop at the intersection.

According to the CHP, the car is described as a silver, newer, "boxy" van with dark tinted windows. The driver, an unidentified woman, briefly got out of her car to look at the man lying on the ground and fled the scene in her car.

The bicyclist, who suffered injuries to his shoulder and leg, described the woman as dark-complected, in her mid-30s, with long black hair, wearing a floral pattern dress.
