CHP: Hopland man killed in solo motorcycle crash Tuesday
HOPLAND, Calif. —
A man was killed in a solo motorcycle crash east of Hopland Tuesday, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
On Sept. 11 at around 1 p.m. the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on State Route 175 east of Buckman Drive at an unknown speed, when police say he failed to negotiate a sweeping right turn in the roadway and went off the southbound side, colliding with a large oak tree.
The motorcyclist was ejected from the motorcycle and came to rest in a grassy ditch on the south side of the roadway, police said. Emergency personnel responded and determined that he had sustained fatal injuries. The roadway was open to one-way traffic control for about three hours.
Identification of the motorcyclist is pending notification of next-of-kin by the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office.
