HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. — UPDATE 3/12:
Officials say they believe homicide not to be the result of the body found near Big Lagoon State Park on March 8.
According to deputies, a person was walking their dog on the beach when they found the decomposed body and decided to call officials.
They are currently testing DNA on the person found and say that results will come in three-to-six months.
On Friday, March 8, 2019, around 12:50 pm, Humboldt County Sheriff's Office deputies say they were dispatched to the report of a deceased body at Big Lagoon State Park.
Deputies say that along with officers from the California State Parks, they arrived on scene and located a severely decomposed body on the beach approximately 4 miles north of the main parking lot. Sheriff Detectives and the Coroner's Office arrived on scene and the body was retrieved. This investigation is currently ongoing.
