Man arrested for bank robbery at Chase in Old Town Wednesday morning

A man was arrested Monday morning after police say he robbed a bank on the 300 block of F Street Monday morning.

The Eureka Police Dept. responded to the Chase Bank at about 9:56 a.m. after they said they got a 911 call from the bank regarding a robbery. Staff at the bank told police a man presented a note to the teller demanding money. The teller reportedly complied and handed the suspect an envelope containing cash. The suspect then left the bank, according to police.

Officers responded and immediately found the suspect outside the bank near the entry and exit doors, the EPD said. The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Tracey Dontaye Drew, was detained without incident, according to police.

Drew was found to be in possession of the stolen envelope of of cash and bank staff positively identified him as the suspect, the EPD reported.

He was booked into jail on robbery charges and is being held on $50,000 bail, according to police.

The Chase Bank was open for business as usual Wednesday after the alleged robbery.
