BLUE LAKE, Calif. — One person died in a fatal crash on Highway 299 near Blue Lake on Tuesday that closed the road for several hours.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a motorcycle heading westbound collided with a logging truck headed in the other direction around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. Officials confirmed that the driver of the motorcycle died from the injuries sustained during the crash.
CHP officials say DUI has been ruled out, and that the cause of the collision is still under investigation.
Highway 299 was closed for several hours following the crash. As of 2:15 p.m., one-way traffic control is in effect and the roadway is expected to be opened fully in about an hour.
