HBF: Condemned house that caught fire in August catches fire again Saturday night
EUREKA, Calif. —
According to Humboldt Bay Fire (HBF), a house that became engulfed in flames and subsequently flagged for demolition caught fire again Saturday night.
HBF Batallion Chief Chris Emmons said this time, someone started a fire inside the garage area, which is all that was left of the structure. He said it could have been arson or an accidental fire, but that it was definitely human-caused. An investigation is underway.
Chief Emmons said the call came in at around 10:13 p.m. on Oct. 6. Crews aggressively fought flames at the house, located on the 6300 block of Loma Avenue, and were able to completely put the fire out in under an hour and a half, Emmons said.
HBF said no one was living in the house during the second fire.
