EUREKA, Calif. — At least one person is in the hospital and multiple cars have been damaged after a collision on Broadway in Eureka.
The collision reportedly occurred just after 12 a.m. on Nov. 24, at the intersection of West Henderson Street and Broadway Street near the In-N-Out. Members of Humboldt Bay Fire, the Eureka Police Department and California Highway Patrol responded to the scene of an apparent collision involving four cars. Southbound lanes of Broadway were blocked starting at Vigo Street as crews investigated the area.
According to HBF Battalion Chief Nick Launius, the driver of a red Subaru, who had to be extricated from her car, suffered major to moderate injuries from the collision and was transported to Providence St. Joseph Hospital for medical attention.
Two other cars involved suffered damage to their front and rear ends, however, officials on the scene say that one of the drivers involved reportedly fled the scene before responders arrived for unknown reasons.
The cause of the collision, including whether alcohol or drugs were involved, is unknown at this time.
A fatal collision occurred earlier in November near the same intersection.
