Northern California 'rising star' police officer killed in Davis, suspect dead

The suspect believed to be involved in the deadly shooting of a Davis police officer has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to police.


Northern California authorities say a gunman has shot and killed a police officer in Davis, California and the hunt is on for the attacker.

Officials say the officer was shot at about 7 p.m. Thursday while investigating a three-car crash in the downtown area of Davis.

As of midnight Friday morning, the suspect was believed to be on foot. He's described as a white man in his 20s wearing a baseball cap, a black jacket and black tactical boots.
