Repeal of California gas tax heads to November ballot
EUREKA, Calif. —
Roads throughout Eureka, including Sixth and Seventh Streets are being fixed due to funds from Senate Bill 1, however, a repealing of the tax is going up to a vote for the people in November.
Scott Ellsmore of Eureka Public Works says the city needs the funding from SB1 because the city doesn't have enough money to fix them without it.
The petition that brought the appeal to the ballot gathered 900,000 signatures, almost double what it needed.
