S.W.A.T. team arrests man barricaded inside home

The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office arrested a man after he barricaded himself inside his home Friday evening.

According to officials, law enforcement was called to 3994 Highway 36 in Hydesville after a witness reported Eric Lee Barber, 45, of shooting at their home with a rifle.

When deputies arrived Barber barricaded himself inside his home and refused to exit. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Crisis Negotiation and S.W.A.T. Teams were activated and responded to the scene.

Officials reported that after numerous attempts to gain Barber’s cooperation proved futile, S.W.A.T. made entry into the residence and took Barber into custody without further incident

Barber was booked for assault by force, discharged of a firearm in a negligent manner and resisting a public officer.
