St. Joseph Hospital releases statement on the death of Astraia Marie Muir
EUREKA, Calif. —
St. Joseph Hospital released a statement after authorities confirmed the death of 39-year-old Astraia Marie Muir, the victim in Friday's alleged murder-suicide.

It has now been confirmed that a valued member of the St Joseph Health, Humboldt County family, Astraia Muir, lost her life last weekend. The circumstances surrounding her passing are tragic and remind us all of the precious nature of life. As a nurse at St. Joseph and Redwood Memorial Hospitals, Astraia was a dedicated and compassionate caregiver, touching the lives of all she encountered. Our deepest sympathy go out to her family, friends and colleagues.
Muir was a nurse at St. Joseph hospital in Eureka, according to Christian Hill, the hospital's marketing and communications manager. Muir's cause of death was determined to be murder, by means of multiple incised wounds, according to the Eureka Police Dept. (EPD).
