USFS: Hirz Fire 100 percent contained

SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. —
Containment on the Hirz Fire reached 100 percent Thursday morning, according to the U.S. Forest Service.
The fire burned a total of 46,150 acres. No structures were destroyed by the flames.
The Hirz Fire started on Thursday, Aug. 9, 18 miles northeast of Redding. Investigators say the cause of the fire was human.
The forest service says additional crews will continue suppression repair efforts in affected areas. Shasta-Trinity National Forest lands, roads and trails around the fire perimeter remain closed as a safety precaution.
