Snow reported in Humboldt County overnight

Snow has fallen in Humboldt County overnight which is incredibly rare for the area. Several people have sent in pictures and video of the Arcata plaza with a sheet of white over it.

The last time Eureka saw snow was in March of 1999 when they got just over half an inch, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

People can be heard whooping and cheering in the Arcata plaza in the background of the videos.

Per NWS, about half an inch of snow was reported in Eureka, an inch in Arcata, two to three inches in Mckinleyville and five and a half inches on Azalea Hill at 400 feet in elevation.
