Enterprise, Foothill, U-Prep post bounce-back wins

The second full week of high school football in the Northstate saw Enterprise, Foothill and University Prep post their first wins of the season in front of enthusiastic home crowds.

Enterprise (1-1) rode the legs and arm of quarterback Leslie Cummings, who also returned a kick for a score in the Hornets 35-14 home win over West Valley (1-1).

Foothill quarterback Jayden Gordon and a stingy Cougars defense topped visiting Carson from Nevada, 41-7. It was announced before the game the Senators (1-1) brought a $1,000 donation to Shasta County Schools for Carr Fire Relief.. The previous week, another Nevada school, McQueen High School from Reno, presented a check in excess of $6,000 in funds raised as well. Foothill is 1-1.

University Prep posted the first win of the coach Darren Trueblood era, downing Live Oak, 28-21 in Redding. Riley Seay rushed for a pair of scores in U-Prep's (1-1) win over the Lions (0-2).

In Chico, the Panthers improved to 2-0 in their new home stadium, downing visiting Lassen, 30-19.

In other highlighted games, Mt. Shasta ripped Central Valley in Shasta Lake, 42-14, Pleasant Valley fell at home to Valley Christian, 27-14 and Sutter blanked Red Bluff, 26-0.
