Veteran journalist Brent Weber joined the KRCR news team as Managing Editor and Anchor in November 2016.
Brent’s career spans three and a half decades, beginning as an intern at the Cable News Network, the day CNN went on the air in1980. Since that time his work as a news/sports journalist and storyteller has taken him from Macon, Georgia to Chattanooga, Tennessee, to Atlanta as a correspondent and anchor for CNN, and then to Los Angeles where he was an award-winning reporter for CNN Sports. He worked in the Greater Los Angeles market for a decade and a half, including several years with the Orange County Newschannel, where he was the TV voice of Cal State Fullerton baseball.
He produced the syndicated lifestyle show Action Figures in California before joining Fox 25 in Oklahoma City as the primary anchor for the morning news in 1987. Much of the early parts of his career included live sports broadcasting, including professional baseball play-by-play as well as sideline reporting for the NBA OKC Thunder and Fox Sports West.
While obtaining his Masters in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Oklahoma in 2014, he produced his first full-length documentary, Real Live Angels, which was honored by the Santa Monica Independent Film Festival (realiliveangelsmovie.com).
He earned a BS in Journalism from Georgia State University in Atlanta in 1983, where he began his professional career with Georgia Network Radio. He has also written a book on broadcasting as a career, The Sports Guy: Scorecard Scribblings From An Ordinary Journalist (scorecardscribblings.com).
An avid adventurer and storyteller, Brent relishes getting to know the people and places in the Northstate. You can find him exploring new trails with his beloved dogs Murphy and Billy, watching local sports, or attending art exhibits whenever possible.
He is proudest of his daughter Nicole Weber, an actress (jennifernicoleweber.com) and adventurer in her own right.
