Meaghan Mackey is a reporter and digital content producer.
Originally from Sacramento, California, Meaghan graduated in 2018 from the University of Nevada-Reno with a degree in Journalism and a minor in Communication Studies. While in college, she worked as an intern for KTVN where she reported on the casino culture to the stunning beaches of Lake Tahoe. She also interned at KCRA 3 in Sacramento, the news station she grew up watching with her mom.
During her senior year of college, Meaghan studied abroad with the world’s premier shipboard education program, Semester At Sea. Through this experience she sailed around the globe through the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific Oceans and traveled to ten different countries including Spain, Germany, Ghana, South Africa, India, Japan, Myanmar and China. Meaghan interacted with individuals from various cultures, traditions and backgrounds to gain appreciation for diversity and drew connections between in-class learning and professional experience.
Her on-air career started at KRCR News Channel 7 in July 2018 when she worked as a bureau reporter in Chico, California. She was one of the first journalists on the front lines of the deadly Camp Fire that tore through the Town of Paradise on November 8.
In May 2019, she moved to Redding to continue her passion for reporting and pursue her interest in digital storytelling. She’s the stations first digital reporter and will be challenged with expanding the station’s online content with stories that are important to the Northstate.
Most days, you can catch her on-air in the early evening and on KRCR News Channel 7’s Facebook page.
However, when she is not on TV or on Facebook Live, she enjoys being outdoors and exploring all the beautiful places Northern California has to offer.
