Preston joined KRCR News Channel 7 in June 2022 as a First Alert Forecaster and Multimedia Journalist.
Born and raised in Western Washington, Preston loves the West Coast and is very excited to call the Northstate his new home! He has been drawn to the region since visiting Shasta Lake in 2014 and looks forward to exploring everything the area has to offer.
Preston graduated from the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business with his bachelor’s degree in Marketing in June 2022 and moved to the Northstate just two days after his commencement ceremony! Though his primary academic focus was business, he got the opportunity to explore a lifelong passion for the weather through The UW Dawgcast, the campus forecasting group. It was there that he got the chance to tell the weather story through weekly blog posts and forecast videos and realized that this form of storytelling was his true passion. He is ecstatic to get the opportunity to continue telling the weather story in a new location and to immerse himself in a new climate by connecting with the data, history, and community. Coming from the Seattle area, Preston has had the chance to forecast record-breaking heat waves and cold snaps, as well as significant rain and snow events.
Outside of the world of weather, Preston has worked in Game Day Experience Marketing for the University of Washington’s athletic department, served as the voice of the Huskies’ Gymnastics team, and has given planetarium shows in the UW Astronomy Department. In his free time, he enjoys cheering on all UW sports teams, running, and taking his telescope out to go stargazing.
