President Trump's visit to fire camp lifts firefighters' spirits in Butte County
CHICO, Calif. —
Saturday morning firefighters coming off the fire lines sacrificed sleep, hoping to get a glimpse of the President's arrival in Butte County, as he toured the overwhelming destruction the Camp Fire has brought to the community.
Firefighters from Santa Cruz, Woodbridge and Siskiyou County were some of the thousands gathered at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds in Chico as they waited for President Donald Trump to arrive at the Camp Fire Incident Center.
Despite political views, firefighters said the President's visit lifted their spirits and boosted moral amongst many first responders who have been working the fire lines, away from their families, since the Camp Fire struck November 8 and has since grown to be the most devastating and deadly fire they have ever witnessed.
